The powertrain team is designing an intake manifold which will distribute air evenly and efficiently to all cylinders in the engine while complying with all FSAE rules and guidelines. The first design constraint the team encountered was the position of the engine. Since the last year's frame is being used, the position of the engine is fixed causing the intake to be mounted on top of the car. To maximize throttle response the runners inside the intake are designed to be even length and the geometry is designed to reduce re-circulation. to have optimal throttle response. Intake is on top. The final intake will be 3-D printed.
